Opportunistic Thief Steals Resident's Motorcycle During Flooding in Thma Koul District
A resident in Battambang province had her motorcycle stolen while busy moving belongings to escape floodwaters. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect despite security camera footage.

Battambang Province: A thief seized the opportunity to steal a resident's motorcycle while they were busy moving property and belongings from a flood-submerged home to a safe elevated area. The incident occurred starting on October 5 in Veal Trea village, Ou Taki commune, Thma Koul district.
The motorcycle owner, 48-year-old Thuong Leang, explained that severe flooding submerged her house up to neck height, forcing her and her children to pile their belongings along National Road 5. Her 19-year-old son, Van Samban, had ridden the motorcycle from the hospital to fetch food while his sister was receiving treatment for dengue fever. However, after leaving the motorcycle by the roadside and wading through the water, the vehicle was stolen.
Following the incident, the victimized family immediately filed a complaint at the Ou Taki administrative police post. Suong Kimsu, acting chief of the Ou Taki administrative police, stated that authorities do not yet have clear leads to arrest the suspect, but street surveillance footage shows the suspect fleeing south on the motorcycle.
The police chief added that authorities have handed over the security footage showing the suspect's face to specialized officers to continue the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice.
